Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is one of Europe's most acclaimed and creative jazz ensembles. Formed in 2000, the orchestra has collaborated on a great number of interesting projects with renowned names on the Norwegian as well as international jazz scene, including Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Erlend Skomsvoll, Eirik Hegdal, Sofia Jernberg, Maria Kannegaard, Kim Myhr, Jenny Hval, Stian Westerhus, Ståle Storløkken, Kristoffer Lo, Marius Neset, and many others. The size and instrumentation of the orchestra vary from project to project; this enables them to work with a wide range of repertoire. At the concert in Hradec Králové, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra will play the music from the Plastic Wave record, composed by renowned bassist Ole-Morten Vågan. He will join a large ensemble comprising the crème de la crème of Scandinavian jazz. As the Czech Republic has never had the opportunity to welcome the elite of that scene in such number, we believe we are going to witness a unique musical experience.

Peter Brötzmann – saxophone, clarinet / Steve Swell – trombone / Paal Nilssen-Love – drums
A living legend of global free jazz and guru of European music improvisation scene, the German saxophonist and clarinetist Peter Brötzmann with his international trio.
The musician, this year celebrating his seventy fifth birthday, will give an exclusive performance at the festival Jazz Goes to Town. This will be his second appearance in the Czech Republic in his life. Brötzmann began his career in late 50s in Dixieland bands, since mid 60s already actively co-creating the European free jazz scene. In 1968 he recorded his cult album Machine Gun, until now considered one of the most remarkable freejazz albums. As an instrumentalist mastering nearly all types of saxophones and clarinets Brötzmann has become famous for his quick power jazz play. Thus he transformed the American freejazz influence towards power, eruptive, vigorous playing appealing to the punk, noise and "super-style" experiment audiences.

An exclusive concert of an international quartet building bridges between jazz improvisation, electronic music, funk and reggae grooves and contemporary classical music.
The compositions of the quartet spring from Ethiopian traditional and jazz music, combined with influences from composers John Cage and Morton Feldman and inspiration by funk grooves. Although the music is composed, its material can be spontaneously combined and varied by the individual players, thus keeping the overwhelming tension and the spell of the unpredictable. The quartet is headed by the American saxophonist Ken Vandermark – globally one of the most creative musicians in the field of progressive jazz and free improvisation of the past 20 years.

Andreas Schaerer – sing, beatbox / Andreas Tschopp – trombone, tube / Matthias Wenger – alt and soprano saxophone / Benedikt Reising – baryton saxophone, bass clarinet / Christoph Steiner – drums, marimba / Marco Müller – double bass
An exclusive concert of a Swiss sextet headed by the phenomenal vocalist A. Schaerer bringing a musical sensation opening brand new musical horizons to the listeners.
The performance of this band looks like a common jam session of Charles Mingus, Frank Zappa, Kurt Weill and Sun Ra together with Zurich dadaists trying to combine jazz chanson with cabaret, freejazz with a strange polka, Dixieland with dadaist opera. The perfectly harmonised play of the sextet works as a single body with the head represented by the original vocalist A. Schaerer. His expression ranges from song form via jazz scat and operatic bell canto to absolutely overwhelming vocal performance including beat box and rap. The band members are not left behind their bandmaster and thus the performance often transforms into a spontaneous stage creation.

Vladislav Šarišský – piano, zpěv / Filip Hittrich – bass guitar / Marián Slávka – drums
A super-genre trio of Bratislava offering original and intense jazz fusion full of various moods, unexpected detours, different timbres and deep emotions.
The music produced by the trio steps beyond genre boundaries between jazz, art rock, pop, funk and contemporary classical music. Their music makes an impression of absolute devotion to joint musicianship, maximum individual engagement and unrivalled performing synergy. The individual compositions are strongly melodic. They are made of alternating more cultivated lyrical sections and vigorous punk virtuosity. Despite all the dynamic and melodic upturns the music is sealed by kind of under-stream generated by and carrying away the trio.
